Lot has been said about people management. Now consider this...people management is all about managing minds and egos. Employees don't just bring skill and knowledge to the workpace they bring some "baggage" too. This baggage includes belief system, prejudices, personality traits (or personality defects?), likes and dislikes and most important, the king size EGO. That makes people management such a big challenge.
What are tips or techniques of managing people? I have have just one sentence to say: Just forget it.
Although tons of literature written on the subject, let us rely on our own experience.
How would YOU like when someone tries to 'manage' you?
Similary how successful had you been when you tried to 'manage' someone?
Spirituality gives an answer: Best way to manage others is to manage ourselves.
As long as we think that problem lies with others, we would spend whole life in correcting others without much success. Moment we shift our focus and start attacking our ego and personality defects, the whole world changes.
Think about it. Today organizations are no more interested in leaders who are busy in pampering their ego. In his book Good to Great Jim Collins talks about great leaders who have humility as their hallmark.
As we enter into new era. People have openly started talking about bringing spirituality to work place. We are discovering that the best way to lead people is by serving them.
